Name: Wrenchmonkees
Location:
Copenhagen, Denmark

Based in Copenhagen, Denmark, Wrenchmonkees was set up in 2008 by Per Nielsen and Nicholas Bech in the pursuit of creating one-off motorcycles for people who want something out of the ordinary. Seeking to build useable customized bikes, Wrenchmonkees’ use of clean mechanical aesthetics is designed to show off the raw components of a motorcycle in its best light – to allow the bike’s design to express itself with uncluttered purity.

Well versed in building unique customized retro bikes using machines such as the Yamaha SR500 and XS650 as a base, Wrenchmonkees’ have recently extended their repertoire to include more modern bikes such as the Yamaha XJR1300 Yard Built special they created in 2013. Unwilling to simply re-create café racer style machines using period equipment, Wrenchmonkees employ their philosophy of usability to bring in modern equipment that they then modify to keep with the retro style of their mechanical expressions of individualism.

“With the XJR we were determined to showcase what you could do with the bike, how cool it could look with a café racer style. We really wanted to push the boat out and make something inspirational for XJR fans.”
