Featuring new bodywork and ergonomics inspired by the MotoGP® YZR-M1, the 2019 R3 is sleeker, more aerodynamic and more refined than ever before. The YZR-M1-style air duct gives this compact supsersport a race-bred look, and with its all-new bodywork, revised ergonomics and uprated suspension systems, the new R3 is ready to attack on the track.
Aggressive new R1 inspired face
With its glaring face, this bike is pure R-series, and features a new front fairing and screen inspired by the iconic R1. Dual LED headlights and a central air duct works with the cross-layered fairing panels to maximize cooling airflow for the engine, making this the most outstanding supersport in the 300cc A2 licence class.
High revving 321cc engine
With a compression ratio of 11.2:1, double overhead cams (DOHC) and four-valve cylinder heads, the R3 motor is designed for quick-revving performance and high-rpm efficiency. With a maximum power output of 30.9kW/42PS at 10,750 rpm, this potent engine delivers thrilling acceleration with an exciting ride and a broad spread of power.
Lightweight A2-licence supersport bike
Whether you're an A2 licence rider or someone who is looking for the ultimate lightweight supersport, the R3 has the technology, performance and style that you're looking for. Developed using the same no-compromise philosophy that goes in to every R-series model, this bike's race-bred DNA is built to thrill.
Slim and lightweight sports chassis
The compact and lightweight chassis is manufactured from high tensile steel tubing that gives an optimum balance of strength and rigidity. For sporty and agile handling characteristics the R3's short wheelbase gives outstanding abgility – while the near 50/50 front/rear weight distribution and accessible seat height delivers a balanced ride.
New R1 inspired dual LED headlights
The new front fairing is equipped with R1 style headlights that underline the R3's strong genetic links with the larger R-series models. Utilizing bright and long-lasting LED technology, the new dual headlights enhance both visibility and illumination with minimal power draw, and give the bike a radical new look.
New 37mm KYB inverted front forks
For 2019, the R3 features an all-new 37mm inverted fork with optimized spring and damping settings. This new design gives a greater surface area for the sliding tube, significantly improving fork rigidity for sporty front-end feel and feedback without losing real-world comfort – and a new YZR-M1 inspired top clamp reinforces the radical YZR-M1 inspired style.
Lower fuel tank and handlebar position
Thanks to the new lower fuel tank design and lowered handlebars, the new R3's ergonomics give an improved riding experience. As well as being extremely comfortable, the revised riding position makes it easy to grip the machine with your knees for improved confidence, especially when tucking aggressively behind the updated windscreen on the racetrack.
Powerful braking system with ABS
The 298mm floating-mount front disc brake ensures excellent stopping power with plenty of feel at the lever, while a 220mm floating disc handles the braking performance at the rear. And with its ABS antilock braking system, the R3 rider can ride confidently – even when traction is reduced in wet or slippery conditions.
Lightweight wheels and supersport tyres
The 17-inch wheels are fitted with new pattern 110/70-17 radial front tyre and a wide 140/70-17 radial rear tyre featuring five pairs of thin cast spokes that complement the bike's sleek R-series image. These cast aluminum wheels with light hollow axles are both strong and stylish, while minimizing unsprung weight for refined handling performance.
Balanced 50/50 weight distribution
Thanks to the engine placement and overall machine dimensions, the R3 ABS features a near 50/50 front/rear weight distribution – widely regarded as being the ideal set up for supersport bikes – giving enhanced handling performance, easy agility and improved road feel.
New digital multi-function instruments
As well as its aggressive new looks for 2019, the R3 features updated multi-function LCD instruments that inform the rider of gear position, fuel capacity, real time and average fuel economy, water temp, clock and an oil change trip meter – all presented in a clean, modern layout.
