Yamaha's Yard Built projects have led the way in the revival of the cool custom world. Developing relationships with the rock stars of motorcycle customising, the project has delivered an incredible line up of unique and breath-taking one-off Yard Builts based on the Sport Heritage range of motorcycles. Legendary customizers from across the globe have turned their skilled hands to proving how easy it is to customize one of Yamaha's very flexible retro machines. The exercise provides inspiration and has set new trends in the motorcycle world, making it a reality for everyone to make their Yamaha their own.
XV950 'Boltage' by Benders
Christian and Raphael Bender are back with their second Yard Built project, a stunning retro racer XV950 concept.
The German brothers latest collaboration with Yamaha has delivered an achingly cool café racer, inspired by one of their previous projects, the ‘Jericho’, based on a 1983 Yamaha TR1.
The stripped back street racer XV950 features numerous hand crafted aluminium pieces from the brothers including the fuel tank, front fender and exhaust system. The custom work continues with LSL handlebars and foot pegs and Hattech silencers to give the ‘Boltage’ an authentic growl. The custom machine now sits on 18inch rims.
The Benders brothers personal touch can be seen in the exquisite small details around the bike. These include hand crafted custom platforms for the foot pegs, holders for the exhaust system and the cover for the airbox all made in-house.
The Yard Built XV950 ‘Boltage’ is finished with a perfect retro paint job, including iconic Yamaha speed block design.
