- Yamaha took the world stage by entering the US Catalina GP Race with the 2-stroke twin cylinder YD Racer in 1958. Although he only finished 6th Yamaha rider Fumio Ito earned the crowd’s admiration with his heroic, trilling and relentless display of riding.
