Over 12 million visitors stroll across the gorgeous beaches and splash into the seas across the stunning Andalusian coastlines each year. With tourism playing such a large role in the region’s economy, supporting its status as a safe destination to visit is critical for many of the more than 450,000 people employed by Junta de Andalucia. The Junta de Andalucia has broad reaching responsibilities, including farming, fishing, rural development, the environment and the promotion of tourism across the region. It is a vast and complex organisation that touches the lives of every resident and tourist who visits the region. With this sort of scale, scope and responsibility at stake, they needed a reliable solution that was versatile enough to adapt across different locations.

The Conditions and Challenges

From the wild drama waterscape of the Atlantic to the gentler Mediterranean, over steep dunes and among the waves, this project required an adaptable line-up of different vehicles to cover over 1,000km of coastline, on water and ashore.

The challenging conditions and diverse levels of employee experience, such as a significant tranche of seasonal staff who come and go each year, meant that ease of use and versatility were essential. High-intensity handling and the critical nature of the work means that reliable support and backup are also a must-have.

The Solution

Yamaha offers a one-stop solution for reliable, effective on-water and off-road vehicles. Combined with a first-class dealer support network, this made Yamaha stand out as the partner for Junta de Andalucia. Over 100 units were deployed, including the VX WaveRunner, 700cc Viking Side-by Sides and Kodiak 450 ATVs.

A key factor for Junta de Andalucia is the ease of use of the products. Their staff need to be able to feel at ease, and confident with the handling of any unit when operating in potentially life-saving situations. The RiDE system on the WaveRunners, for example, makes this precision control intuitive and assuring, particularly in close quarters with people in the water. 

The automatic CVT transmission in the Viking 700 and Kodiak ATVs is instantly understandable and easy to use. Not only does this help in urgent situations, but it also reduces fatigue during all-day riding.
