#MyKandoMoment
It was the summer of 1980 and, as always, my family and I were spending our holidays in our summerhouse by the coast…and, as always, my dad was trying to get our American outboard engine to work 😊.
But on that specific day it was simply getting too much, so my dad said to me: “Jacob let’s go and buy a real outboard engine. I want a Yamaha”. My mother was fine with the idea because my dad and I could pick up some furniture and other things that she wanted on the way.
When we came back, we only had the new Yamaha 4HP, so my mother was for sure not happy. She asked why an outboard engine could be so expensive that we could not buy all the other things on the list.My dad answered simply with “Buy quality Cry once”, an expression I have used ever since.
That was for sure my first Kando moment.
Here is a picture of my cousins, my mother and I on the first day with the new Yamaha (we still laugh about how angry my mother looks in the picture).
