Engine Variation Options

Rotation

Standard rotation

The propellor will rotate clockwise when in forward gear. The standard for the majority of single engine vessels.

Counter rotation

The propellor will rotate anti-clockwise when in forward gear. Usually only found on twin, triple and quad installation vessels. Contact your local Yamaha Marine Dealer for more information.

Shaft Length

The required shaft length is dependent on the vessel. Refer to your vessels owners handbook, or contact your local Yamaha Marine Dealer for more information.

Starting Method and Tilt System

Select from a variety of option to suit your requirements:

Manual Start

Outboard is started via a pull-cord at the top of the engine. Trim and tilt is manual.

Electric and Manual Start

Outboard is started either via a pull-cord at the top of the engine, or an electric push button/key start. An external battery is required for the electric ignition. Trim and tilt is manual.

Electric Start

Outboard is started using a push button/ignition key. An external battery is required for this ignition. Trim and tilt is manual.

Electric Start with Hydro Tilt*

Outboard is started using a push button/ignition key. An external battery is required for this ignition. Hydro Tilt is a gas assisted tilt mechanism controlled by a release lever on the engine.

Electric Start with Power Tilt*

Outboard is started using a push button/ignition key. An external battery is required for this ignition. Hydro Tilt is a gas assisted tilt mechanism controlled by a release lever on the engine.

Electric Start with Power Tilt*

Outboard is started using a push button/ignition key. Power Tilt* is controlled via a switch mounted on the throttle or tiller handle. An external battery is required for the ignition and tilt system.

Electric Start with Power Trim** and Tilt

Outboard is started using a push button/ignition key. Power Trim & Tilt is
controlled via a switch mounted on the throttle or tiller handle. An external battery is required for the ignition and tilt system.

*Tilt refers to the lowering of the Outboard Engine into the water.

**Trim refers to the finer adjustments of the outboard engine while underway and is used for enhanced performance, efficiency and operation in shallow water areas.

Control Method

Select from a variety of options to suit your requirements:

Tiller Handle

Outboard engine is controlled (steering and throttle) from a straight handle attached to the outboard.

Remote Control*

Gear selection, throttle and steering wheel are mounted to the boat’s helm position and linked to the Outboard engine via control cables or hydraulics.

Drive-by-Wire*

Gear selection, throttle and steering wheel are mounted to the boat’s helm position and connected to the Outboard engine via electronic cables (gear selection + throttle) and hydraulics (steering).

Digital Electric Steering*

Throttle and steering wheel are mounted to the boat’s helm position and connected to the Outboard engine via electronic cables.

*Additional rigging equipment may be required for these engines.
