Yamaha’s Yard Built project was out in force and winning races for the annual Glemseck 101 custom motorcycle event in Germany from 4-6 September. Over 75,000 motorcycle fans gathered just outside Stuttgart for three days of the world’s best custom bikes, music and of course action!
The Yard Built line up included 14 custom bikes, including two brand new builds. The it roCkS!bikes SR400 ‘CS_05 Zen’ was joined by XV950 builds from Marcus Walz and local star Kingston Custom. The XJR had a star turn out with Yard Built creations from Amsterdam’s Numbnut Motorcycles, Copenhagen’s Wrenchmonkees, Porto’s it roCkS!bikes and the two builds from Rough Crafts and El Solitario. The VMAX was represented by another local hero, JvB-moto, and the stunning ‘Faster Son’ by legendary bike builder Shinya Kimura completed the Sport Heritage range representing the XSR700.
Glemseck was the first opportunity for fans to see the Rough Crafts XJR1300 ‘Guerilla Four’, built in Taiwan by Winston Yeh and also the Yard Built XJR1300 ‘Big Bad Wolf’ by Spanish builder El Solitario.
The famous Glemseck 1/8mile sprint races saw some intense action; Yamaha Motor Europe Product Manager Shun Miyazawa put Shinya Kimura’s ‘Faster Son’ through its paces in the 101 Sprint International alongside Winston Yeh on the Guerilla Four and Jens vom Brauck gave the monster VMAX ‘Infrared’ a run down the 1/8mile.
The star of the show was undoubtedly El Solitario. The XJR1300 ‘Big Bad Wolf’ fought its way to the finals of the special ‘Who Wants to Kill the Cat’ heat, taking ultimate glory and toppling the three year reign of the Lucky Cat Garage’s custom BMW.
