The WaveRunner VX has proven itself with the RNLI's Beach Rescue service in the UK. The RNLI now operates the UK's largest fleet of Commercial PWC, all of which are Yamahas and the VX has become an integrated part of the operation. Other high profile operators include harbour masters, Police and the MOD all of whom choose WaveRunners predominately because of their quality and legendary reliability, although low maintenance costs and excellent economy are also key factors. The 4-stroke VX is favoured for Patrol duties and longer daily usage, whilst the 2-stroke version, with its lower weight, is suited to fast launch and rescue applications.
Featuring the most fuel efficient engines in the industry, agile handling and a range of great practical features, VX series craft are just as suited to active watersports as they are to relaxing on the water.
Beneath simple and clean lines, the entry-level VX Sport is packed with advanced, efficient technology – making it the ideal choice for riders who want to spend less on fuel and more time having fun.
The more powerful 4-stroke VX utilises a 4 cylinder, 20 valve DOHC engine layout, developed from the original Yamaha MR1 powerplant - the first purpose made 4-stroke PWC engine. The 2-stroke version of the VX uses a basic 2 cylinder unit from the original XL700 and current Superjet. Both engines are renowned for their reliability.
Like most boats WaveRunners run a raw water cooling system. This means less weight with no heat exchanger, lower service costs with no fluids to change and better reliability with fewer parts.
Simple controls make the VX easy to operate whilst full information is provided on the digital instrument panel.
The VX hull design has been acclaimed as offering predictable response to rider input and confidence inspiring handling. The semi-V design is ideal for rough costal waters as well as smoother inland waterways.
The extended rear platform adds to the stability of the craft whilst also aiding reboarding. The platform design allows the use of a rescue board without affecting the overall handling characteristics.
Proven in the field the VX is easy to maintain with the minimum of effort. High quality fittings and stainless steel parts minimise the effects of sea water.
With a fresh water flushing point, remote security immobiliser on Dx and Cr models, Digital instruments, glove box, dual mirrors and automatic bilge system the VX offers outstanding flexibility.
The VX700 offers the choice of 2-stroke power. There are three 4-stroke versions available with different equipment levels including, cruiser seat, reverse option, remote security and low running mode.
